baby cooper - the home stretch, part 2!

The page was getting too big to load easily, so I decided to split it into two. I know that a lot of our friends & family have dial-up connections.

September 7, 2003 (35 weeks, 4 days)

I was put on modified bed rest right before Labor Day to keep my blood pressure and swelling under control. My ankles are so much better than they were in August! So right now, all there is to do is wait...

We have nearly decided that we are going to name the baby Charlotte, but we are reserving the right to change our minds when we meet her. :) Her middle name is still up in the air, but it will almost certainly start with J.

We had a wonderful baby shower today. It was such a surprise. I thought we were having a party for Beth, Geoff, Sophie, and Daniel to celebrate his arrival on July 23rd, and we did, but after about an hour they all put on pink party hats while I was out of the room! I really think there's something about being pregnant that makes it easier for people to plan surprise parties for you! (easily distracted, etc.!) It was a great day, and here are some pictures.

Loving my special tiara! I wonder what Jenn would have come up with if baby were a boy?? :)

Everyone had a hat and a party lei with baby gear or a cookie cutter attached. (party favors for us!) Clockwise: Jenn, Brad, Sarah N., Martha, Sarah M., Clara, Jeremy, Sophie, Mary

The other side of the room! L to R: Jason, Anne (with camera), Jim (behind balloon), Beth, Sophie, Geoff

5-week-old baby Daniel with Jenn and what I'm sure will be his favorite of Charlotte's toys to share, the Whoozit (thank you, Alyssa & Zach!)

After the shower, we took some pictures of Charlotte's room and baby gear, also another in the continuing series of belly pictures.

Getting bigger every day! Charlotte "dropped" at 34 weeks, so I am carrying much lower than I was. I think that it makes me look smaller, at least from the top where I usually see myself, but from the side... nope!

Nope, not at all smaller! Just an optical illusion! :)

Here is her crib, with many of the beautiful things we have been given as gifts.

Here's her bassinet, which will be in our room for a while when she's born, our Boppy pillow, and the cutest stuffed cow I have ever seen. (thanks Martha!) You can also see where Sophie was helping us "put away" the balloons from our shower. :)

Here's our stroller, which just arrived Saturday, a gift from Charlotte's Grandma Cooper! We had to put Teddy in it to show how cute it will be with a real baby riding inside. (I would have borrowed Daniel to be our model, but he was asleep when I thought of it during the shower!)

October 2, 2003 (39 weeks, 1 day)

On October 2nd, my labor was induced at 5:30 AM, and we welcomed Charlotte to the world! Lots of pictures are on her new web pages.
