By the way. I have B.O. right now. I'm gonna sit on my back porch with a shotgun and read Chindi with a cup of Earl Grey. If they wanna mess with my circuit breakers they have to get past me first. Which is easy 'cause I can't see the circuit breakers from my back porch and I don't have a shotgun.

I have a blow gun though.

Someone is fucking with my household...flipping my circuit breakers on and off and on and off again. They're at the back of my guest house. I am trying to lock the thing down for fear that the prank will damage my computers or equipment. I left a note on it which was disregarded at 5 am this morning. See, this is the kinda thing that will make me late to work one day, when at 7 am all of my clocks read 3:30 am. Oh, and I admit that it could be a random electric anomaly, or simply the fault of my electric company. In fact, this is just the type of thing I used to write about at TCINT; how to tell when an intelligence is involved when something like a random flickering of lights occurs. There is always the problem of anthropomorphisation. Watch a Pachinko game and everything seems random or governed by unseen forces. Step back in time and watch the same game over again and things look different. Knowing the outcome adds some level of acknowlegement of predetermination. Whisper the outcome into the ear of a bystander who did not travel back in time with you (make sure your other bystander self is out of the way), and suddenly the person sees an order to it all...a kind of will behind the otherwise random movements of the ball.

But my lights. This flickering was apparently non-random. It had the "what happens when I do this?" element to it. According to my roommate anyhow. I just came home and found the power off. I was at the theater watching Bad Santa piss himself.

Luckily I am a light sleeper with regard to certain sounds. I'll sleep through the normal ones, but the sound of my computer suddenly shutting down or my monitors flicking from "power save mode" to "power fucked mode" also wakes me up.

Saw 'Bad Santa'. If you're easily offended, don't go. If you're tired of seasonal emotional manipulation on the part of Hollywood and don't mind a filthy, drunk Santa who likes to sodomize large women, then go. I found this movie refreshing and completely hilarious. It's Bukowski meets any Hollywood christmas.

See...some people are offended by Bukowski. I find him necessary. Even if he offended me (which he doesn't) and didn't make me laugh (he has me in stiches), I would still believe that without Bukowski, many many things simply would not make sense.

I read on someone's Onion Personal that their favorite book was "Tales of Ordinary Madness" until something they read made them put the book down forever. I felt bad for the woman, wondering what it was she'd read. Man, it could have been so many things. (She happened to be a friend of mine whom I'd had a crush on for years and suddenly I found her on a personal's site. But even if I still wanted her, the fact that she would put the book down forever and be so adamant about it was a sure sign she would have no ability to put up with me for more than 45 minutes at a time. And she was just never interested anyway, hehe.)

The other day while grocery shopping with Chief I bought a science fiction novel. It's called 'Chindi'. If the word Chindi itself, based on indiginous American legends, weren't such a damned plot spoiler I might be able to read the book without any preceptions. I bought it because it mentioned 'forerunner races', which is a specialty for me.
For the past 10 years, I've been taking notes for the great International sci-fi novel I will someday write when I'm settled down and own, not rent.

I think science fiction needs an overhaul. I want to take it back to the days of Frank Herbert and throw some Robert Musil into it. Funk, Austrian style. Not the Schwarzenegger Austrian style, mind you. Fuck. Give me some credit.

Heard 'The History on AIDS' on the way into work on BBC's The World. It was a very interesting show.

Henry Kissinger, not so great.

It's not that there was a Kennedy assassination conspiracy. It's that those same forces have molded the US governement against the people of these United States, with no oversight ever since. They have levied laws supporting big corporate misuse of government powers, way over and above the needs and rights and freedoms of the people, of "We the People!"

Those same forces continue to tell us what is right, inspite of the Constitution or the Bill of Rights, or any other free Democracy writings. If anything, corporate America has found that the fuedal model works better for business, damn the individual! You are instructed to follow the corporate model!

At some point in time, all humans, all beings, will be treated equally and with respect! Not in any of our lifetimes!

Peace,
(Inspite of the Horror!)

Thanks Coop, for the update. Hooray for the Mini-Coop! Charlotte is a beautiful name, as no doubt, the sweet little one is!

Jimmy, I like the new colors. Yea, some folks might find them a bit obtrusive. But they are kinda gay and nice. (I mean gay in a good way). Ahahahahaha! Whatever that means! I like the new design!

If humans could imagine,
A leader who was kind,
A leader who of them,
Kept them in mind.
If we could imagine,
A people's person,
With minor sins,
Who would win,
AMEN!

Peace in 2004!

Arnold Schwarzenegger called me on Tuesday. I listened to the pre-recorded message which was left on my answering machine over and over again.

Having a governor that is so obviously a Republican/ENRON marrionette is not what's disturbing to me. I suppose that all politicians have a corporation's greasy hand up their puppet skirts. I expect that now. It's part of the game. It's just that now it's in my face. It's in everyone's faces.
Between George Bush and Arnold Schwarzenegger we are forced to realize how powerless our vote can be, because it has never been more obvious that we are not simply voting for the lesser of two evils or the evil of two lessers, we are voting for the invisible corporate candidates, organizations whose goal is to increase their standings, better their posture, goals which almost necessarily have deleterious effects on the non-corporate individual.

Another thing that is disturbing to me is that I still hear Conan.

Governor Schwarzenegger, what is best in life?
"Crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentation of the women."

I had a co-worker who played country music all day. I like most music, and sometimes it's better to have some sort of music than none at all. In fact, after a few weeks of it, I found that some of the songs and singers (especially older tunesters like Johnny Cash, George Jones, Conway Twitty, Charlie Pride, Lynn Anderson, June Carter Cash, Tammy Wynett, and the like) were pretty good. Yet still I yearned to bonk him on the head and turn the channel to something with more of a rock beat, classic rock or contemporary preferred. Even Jazz or Classical music would have been a welcome change. Then there's the time I worked with a Rap lover. That was rough too. In both cases I didn't have to listen to the same song over and over. I had to listen to the songs over and over. But then that's what radio does, drives the songs into the ground. I suppose I learned that there were songs in both genres that were interesting, just not over and over.

A different phenomena I've become aware of is as I've grown older, I often find the old classic rock music that I used to love, is a little too brash or abrasive. I guess mellowmentation is kicking-in.

Diebold should just die!

Cool about the coral guy!

Over six million digits, Wow! ...how does a computer keep track of a number like that?

It would seem that URL's are not valid footnotes. I'm surprized that some scientists use them. On the other hand, I can see how they might refer to another scientist's or institution's web sites. But they'd have to brace them with enough specific information, that if and when the URL's changed, the new URL's could be located, ex: the scientist's full name, when, where and on what he was working, name of the school or institution, street addresses, etc. Speaking from working in the technology industry, I can say firsthand that documentation is usually not kept up to date, that it usually goes out of date quickly, and that it sometimes takes bringing in additional workers dedicated to keeping it up to date in order to assure its accuracy. It's the nature of the beast. Now an internet archiving service does sound like a money maker!

That was a scarey article about Bush's environmental stance. He seems to believe that money now is more important than having a place to live later. But then we knew that, I just didn't realize how broad sweeping the changes he's putting through are. Even if we get someone worthy into the Whitehouse, it'll be years before the stuff that Bush has initiated can be undone. Pisses me off just thinking that the US would let this happen. Compared to how ill-informed most US citizens are, perhaps they deserve it. Nah, no one deserves the future Bush is creating with his callouse acts. Did you notice that the article was written by Robert F. Kennedy Jr.? Perhaps we have another John John?

Now this is a weird guy! I saw one article earlier that described part of the murder. They apparently removed the man's penis first. Murderer and victim both tried it parboiled. Then decided it needed more cooking and a little seasoning, before they consumed the rest. Strange stuff!

(note to self: Awwa, stay away from the computer when you are drunk! Most of the stuff you write is incomplete and not so amusing later when you sober-up.)

Peace,

Jimmy and I have a coworker who reeeealy likes a song. Not just any song, but the most annoying song EVER. She has had it for about two months, she plays music about 50% of the time, and this song comes up aproximately every 15 minutes. I think I am up in the "I've heard this 250 times" range. Wisky Tango Foxtrot.

Biggest! Prime! Ever!
Someone finally realizes what a problem Diebold is. More here.
Interesting graphics design site.
I had seen stuff about this guy before, but Wired just did a full story on him. Very cool stuff.

>"Is there money in that?"

Hehehehehe! God doesn't care about money. Okay, you know that. What's so funny is that if we did away with money, there'd be something else. We need to equate our contributions to society, okay, that is if we are part of that society.

Only when man/woman meets man/woman, do we need some unit of exchange. Alone, I never paid myself, nothing for anything I did! I was happier when a problem was resolved due to hard work or other actions. But I never got paid! Nor did I need to pay for nourishment, nor other service or facility, until I joined with society.

So how can society enlist my attentions, my work, my activity? So far, only with money, promises of future reward. When it becomes obvious, that the future reward only goes to those who are in the upper rankings of that society, I am not as willing to participate. Perhaps if I were compensated more lavishly, I'd be more willing to participate in this doomed model. But, that is not the case. I am on the lower level of the model, I am poor. I am unconvinced that this society has any meaning for these people, the people of this society, and even much less for me.

Yet somehow, it asks for my endorsement. Does the evil, ugly, bad man, need my aquiessense to his rule, in order to continue to rule? I do not not aquiesse! I do not endorse! I do not willingly give this administration anything, even at the risk of the Presidency! GW is no U

Sometimes your links are like candy, Chief. Wow. What did I just say? Sounds like one of those euphemistic 50's songs. The one about burning Alexandria, though caught my attention. I think it would be neat if someone provided an internet archiving service that also verified information with regard to whether or not it was actually true. They could then give their stamp of approval...a gif generated by a server which allowed the link only when used on a specific page and which would disappear if the file was modified in any way.

Is there money in that?

Six dark suits
angle forward,
impossibly forward

to put Edward,

deeply in the ground
we watched them fumble 'round
and heard the wet earth suck their shoes off fatly.

inside the clumsy metal box, Edward jiggled just a bit,
(what was not stayed by PermafixTM)
just when the casket did its dip

and dumped him by the pound

Oh yeah.

I'm designing a new template for the forum. I'll hand it to the Czarina (who probably has her hands full!) and see what she thinks. I've been struggling with it because I wanted to add some new and unintended functionality but I haven't had a chance to really test it since I'm working on Polymorph right now.

According to the logs and word of mouth, a lot more people read this forum than are signed up. Cool people too. Someone will mention to me at a cafe "I was checking out one of the links on the xenius forum, the chair-thingy, and whoa..."

That always gets a smile because at that point I have no idea how they'd even know about the site.

Also, I was trying to get to the site this morning and mistyped. The search engine popped up (annoying) and gave a few recommendations. One of them was for a link to Jeff's journal on the site and mention of sleep deprivation. I clicked it and it sent me to an ad for an insomnia pill. (wtf?) Kinda funny.

There's this brilliant (and recently published) poet I met who also expressed interest in making a contribution this morning via email. I'm excited! This woman is like Plath's reincarnation, although I'm not sure how she would take that. Her work is incredible. I've been reading her now for many months.

Oh and Awwa, I'm just giving you a hard time. Speaking for myself personally, sometimes you say what I'm thinking (except with more exclamation points than I normally use in my internal dialogues) and other times I think you are just drunk. Or sometimes you say what I'm thinking when I'm just drunk.

I think most of the time though, I am thrown off track before I ever figure out what you're saying. Such as when, as in the example you used, I am sideswiped by a derailed car while waiting for your train of thought to come to a stop at the station.

Derailed cars like parentheticals casually mentioning alternate universes, ha. I'm definitely guilty of shit like that.

I just discovered the html 'pre' tag, which allows you to format text in exactly the way you type it, which is just fantastic for prose and poetry and stuff.
That is...you can type the lyrics for say, Ok Computer, without any deviation from the original text.

I also just discovered pumpernickel seeds on my bagel. I hate pumpernickel. But...it was a free bagel, given to me by my pumpernickel loving friends, of which chiefwagonburner is one. I shall have to watch these two more closely in the future. They are on the side of evil.

Two examples I wrote in the past but never posted for lack of the 'pre' tag:

rabbits;
Slices of rabbit
a collective integral
chromatic rabbit.

Absorb the short tailed lagomorph
and down the rabbit whole.

Lost in rabbithood, we don the rabbit hoods,
and talk about their fusion
which seems now
utterly imagined

______________

In the thickening silence,
like plasma
I smile; fingers

in an orange skin.

Tall narrow women working the trowels.
a vast pink garden, with foreign flesh tones.

I think "how simple!" If possibly...
Not in this world.

Small men are such large problems
in Oligarchy towers-thick black suits.

You can see the muck behind their eyes,
collecting the fear in moist clumps.

So the petals spiral away, pink curves
directionless, if only...

Not in this world.

Oh, er, I guess I was practicing my, "Wake up you fool! Bush is ruining the economy, depleting our natural resources, piling money on his associates and big business, all while he's taking us to the cleaners, and all you can talk about is you are a conservative, that I'm upset at Bush because I'm liberal!" speech. Heh! Sorry. Delete the post if it's inappropriate. I certainly was not addressing anyone here, nor meant to be rude.

At least one inherent flaw in the diatribe is that it assumes that once known, truth will be used for good, or at least in a way that is wise.

The alternate universe comment was a little off the subject as well. But in at least one of those alternate realities, Bush didn't win, Heh!

Nevermind!
