Yes it's true. No really. It's true. The Muppet Show movie soundtrack is in the hive. Hey, hey, calm down! You're gonna hurt someone runnin' round that fast.
[ack, so I have to sort of edit the files first. They're in there but I have to reupload them. They'll be here by monday.]

Five hours of pushing pixels around.
So it's official. The 'coincidence engine', a correspondence band scattered across the country but based mostly in San Diego, has just been formed. Hooray, hooray. So what we're doing is bouncing partially constructed music files in wav and mp3 format off of the xenius server and adding to them from our bedrooms. I'm really excited because it's an entirely new way of thinking about music for me. Usually it's either completely solitary or in the presence of a group of people. With this it is a mixture of both, since I will be working with music someone has already recorded and adding to it beneath the warm glow of a casket light from my bedroom.
I've just been sitting here working on images for the cd sleeves and website. Yes. I've fallen in love with the idea of a 'falling man'. It's such an interesting mix of fear and eery wonderment and a complete, almost chaotic lack of control even while the end result is completely inevitable. What a beautiful way to spend a Saturday, though. I mean...not falling, but sitting here calmly pixellating wildly. I really wanted to go to the desert, and I'm sort of planning a Death Valley trip. Sometimes I wonder if I'm a loon. I've been very moody lately.

LOL Jimmy. Mean Mr. Mustard is a cool guy. There aren't too many other people who would have written about it, and I probably have met them all at parties. Gotta love academia. (so why are we bailing for defense contracting? oh yeah, so he won't have to write papers anymore...) Chris came home this morning with a 250 page thesis, 5 copies turned in to his committee, and a well earned shit-eating grin on his face. I couldn't have been prouder.
Offspring update; I have been taken out of work and put on modified bedrest (more like house arrest) for the rest of my pregnancy.... you may be hearing more from me for a while!

Today's reading: Rates of Erosion in Oxia Palus, Mars
Heh, coop. Honestly, I was only looking to put an arrow on the Martian globe pic where Oxia Palus was. Typing in Oxia Palus got one of your husband's publications with Mr. Mustard. I didn't notice at first, and thought, "oh cool, this paper ought to have some information regarding...whoah...holy shit!"
Judging by their work, there is no reason that your hubby or Mr. Mustard will ever have to sleep in the park or shave in the dark trying to save paper. (Lyrics.com's incessant pop-ups made navigation nearly impossible so I had to rely on approximations.)

I have put up a page, detailing part of the future of xenius. (I've been going design crazy and have a bunch of stuff planned.)
This page is designed to look like an error message and will turn most people away, but read it and visit the 'here' link if you get the chance.

Best of luck to you and Chris today, Coop. Amazing that his thesis goes in mere hours after such an historic event (given the subject matter of his thesis and all). (I wonder what an astrologer would say?) It sounds like you guys have lots of really, really good stuff ahead of you.

That dad-ratted planet is ruining my home life right now. Chris is turning his thesis in tomorrow. (insert slightly hysterical laughter here) Oooh, I think that view might even have the region he's working on in it. @#$% Oxia Palus.
Hormones, anyone? Hehe...

Awwa, you truly made my week with this Symphonic Spree find. Thank you!
Soldier Girl #2 (the song itself) was enough to do it. Sorry you missed the trombone group.
Hey...so at least two of us in the forum are now at Burning Man. Wish I was there.

Yea, ditto on the sorry Jeffron! Women! Can't live with them, can't get used to the alternative!
Bumper sticker seen today, "No more Bushit!"
New York was great! I'm in love with the city! First night/day on the train (Amthrax), they were 2 and 1/2 hours late. We missed the Harlem spiritual trombone group. We didn't get to NYC until after midday. Slightly bummed, we checked into the hotel (Days (Inn) Hotel on 8th Avenue near Times Square) and napped. Around 4pm we decided on an early dinner at America's aledged first steakhouse, "Gallaghers (sp?)" just off Broadway. Dining on Filet Mignon, mashed potaoes and greens, the worst downer was that the best brews available were Heinys and Bass! We sauntered over to Broadway, but it started to rain. But have no fear, the brelli salesmen came out in force, declaring, "Umbrell La Siere! Umbrell La Siere!" We bought a couple of $5 specials. As we continued our trek down the Broadway, I asked my companion, DaaLee, "What does 'Umbrell La Siere' mean?" He chuckled and said it slower with emphasis, "Umbrellas Here!" I still say that it was French Ghana for umbrella, "Umbrell La Siere!" We saw the big "Jumbo Tron" and numerous underwear ads on mega billboards. But no strip joints, hookers or crack addicts. It was incredibly clean and tidy! Busy with a pressing mass of humanity, but otherwise nice and clean. One block over, our hotel's street, 8th Ave, had a few Adult DVD stores. But still clean and legitmate. A short break at the hotel, and we were off on the subway to the Empire State Building, Rockerfeller Center, Victoria's Secrets, Macy's, Radio City Music Hall, and the NBC Studios. Funny thing was by now it was after hours for most places. So the best we can say is that we saw the buildings, Heh! But we were there! The window dressing at Victoria's Secret was great, but Macy's was a close rival! At NBC Studios, there was an outdoor aviation exhibit. While I wandered amoungst the F-16, Mercury Rocket, 2005 projected shuttle model, projected Mars lander model, Apollo capsule, and Harrier Jet; DaaLee went to find an NBC Official to ask about Conan O'Brien tickets. Turned out that they don't shoot on Monday, and we had the concert to go to on Tuesday. So, no Conan for us! We walked back to the hotel from there. After a quick refreshing, we headed over to a bar spied earlier, a couple of blocks down from the hotel, "The Collins Bar" (wording? The spelling is right), on 8th Avenue. DaaLee had looked it up on the Internet, they serve Brooklin Microbrews. Had a nice few nightcaps then off to the hotel to sleep away first night travels.
Okay, I'll shorten this up a bit. Next day we were off to a real moring diner breakfast, then the Museum of Natural History, dinosaurs! After viewing lots of meateaters and their prey, we decided to walk Central Park over to the Guggenheim Museum of Modern Art. Problem was, we thought we were walking due East (the correct direction), but instead went almost twice as far South, then turned East. We finally found the far side of the park, and the remote controlled sailboat pond. That was cool, but then onto the Guggenheim. There was a line outside to get in, and a line inside for tickets. Half hour to finally walk the exhibits. Pretty nice, the most memorable for me, Marc Chagal's "Green Violinist" (inspired the title of the musical, "Fiddler on the Roof"). Picasso, Mondiglianni, Paul Klee, Alexander Calder, Joan Miro, Debuffet, Kandisky, De Kooning, Fernand Leger, Matisse, Rothco, many others! We retired back to the hotel by city bus (subway passes work on either). Took longer than we'd have liked, stopping at every other corner, rather than streaming through the underground, but an experience in itself. Freshened up and made it back to the subway to ride down to the East Village, and our 6pm dinner reservation at "Lupa; Osteria Romana" restaurant. This was one of the cheaper, more bohemian of Mario Batalli's (the red-headed Italian chef on the Food Network) restaurants in NYC. We blew $60 bucks each, on wine and a fabulous meal fit for three. Anti-pasta, deli meats cutting board, pasta, and roast pork steaks, very filling! Then we were off to a cafe deeper in Greenwich Village, "Marion's." But on the way, we passed a Tower's Record shop, and upon hearing live music, stuck out heads in the door. "Polyphonic Spree" were performing live at the Tower Records store! They were great, and incredibly frenetic, jumping and singing, and playing like Jesus was in the store with us! I'm not sure that Jesus is their thing, but the music was great and very uplifting! I bought a CD! After that show we arrived at Marion's for the evening show. Marion's is a Tiki bar/restaurant, with a floor show. The, as seen on Letterman and Caroline Rhea, "Pontany Sisters" were the featured act! They danced and gyrated between the tables to Hawaiin, slightly Burlesque, and Carmen Miranda beats, costumes to match! Very hot, but definitely PG! the costumes were fine and the Pontany Sisters did them justice! It was nice! Later we strolled through Washington Park, and caught one of the "oldtime theater" in the park shows, called "Dust." It was a dust bowl comic/tragedy, lots of interesting outdoor props, music, and fun! DaaLee called an early night of after we returned to the hotel, I went back over to Collins for a few beers. Met a bartender/owner(?) named Alan, spelled correctly! Also met a young man named Chris wearing an MTV ID. I showed him some of my Art.eMorphs. He seemd impressed, even talked about pitching a reality show, "Real Art"... Heh! "Show me the money!" Anyway, it could happen! Might be fun! But I'm not holding my breath!
I retired late. DaaLee and I had already discussed that he might go off early on an solo adventure, leaving me to recoup at the hotel. My aged self was showing signs of severe chaffing and other malaise. I needed the five hours additional sleep! He meanwhile explored "Ground Zero", "Chinatown" (having a nice meal there), and "Little Italy." I meanwhile, slept-in, refreshed myself and explored a diner for a burger, and the adult DVD shops, Heh! Well ya gotta see what's so special! They were actually partially legit, having many interesting, some obscure, mainstream and "B" movie titles. "Teenage Zombies" is one I should have bought. Alas, you always regret not buying something! I did buy one DVD, which is my official NYC souvenier, but only so because I doubt that I could have bought the same in Richmond, VA. Let's just say that it's a "wet" DVD. Okay, like I said, only in NYC! Meeting with DaaLee mid-afternoon, we were off to Brooklin by subway. I said earlier that our concert was in Central Park. Sorry, it was in Prospect Park, Brooklin. We arrived early, cased the legistics, then had a beer or two in a bar nearby, awaiting the time for the concert. We got there at about the perfect time. All seating was flat on the ground, on concrete (nearer the stage), or grass, a little further back, but in an ampitheater setting. We were on time to get a good spot on the grass. Ben Kweller opened with a solo act, playing piano and then guitar, while singing some of his fine tunes. On his CD (I bought at the show for $10) he has drums and bass backing him. But the same songs, sang solo, holdup fine! He was great and a Brooklin homeboy, welcomed by the many Brooklin attendees! Then Blle and Sebastin came out. They had a large backup group; Belle (?) played Violin and sang some songs, a Celloist, a Keyboardist (sometimes Sebastin?), Bassist, Drummer, Trumpet, Guitar(s) (sometimes Sebastin, again?) and Sebastin singing most of the songs. They were so full in sound, like listening to the CD! it was a great concert!
Finally we awoke the next day (after riding the subway back to the hotel in a dream), to lots of dirty clothes packing, and rushing off to meet our Amthrax train ride home, which was a half hour late, perhaps to our benefit, only getting home by late afternoon, 5pmish. But "what a long sweet trip it'd been!"
Peace All!

This is an amazing little flash game.
Interesting stats. One would think the opposite if they watched the US news.
